研究テーマ

現在、我々のデータ駆動知能システム研究センターでは、WebやSNSを情報源として質問応答や音声対話を行い、様々な人々を支援し、さらには新たな価値を生み出せる技術を複数開発しています。これらの研究開発では、大量のWeb/SNSデータ、自前で構築した各種の学習データ、大規模な事前学習モデルも含め様々な深層学習技術を用いて、様々なフィールドや用途と関わりつつ、研究開発を推進しています。以下に我々が開発している技術の具体例をリストアップしますが、これらの研究開発では共通して、WebやSNSにある情報／知識や質問応答、対話等のタスクを、各フィールドや用途に基づく新たな視点から捉えます。こうした視点を多数見出しそれらを総合することで、最終的に、言語、知識、対話、コミュニケーション、文脈、推論等の概念に対する斬新かつ普遍的な視点に到達したいと考えます。

• 「なに？」「なぜ？」「どうなる？」などの多様な質問に多様な回答を返し、また、質問の提案まで行って、ユーザに気づきを与える大規模Web情報分析システムWISDOM X（wisdom-nict.jp にて一般公開中）
• SNSから災害時の被災状況、救援状況を質問応答等によって容易に探し出せる耐災害SNS情報分析システムDISAANA（disaana.jp にて一般公開中）、同じくSNS上の被災報告を簡潔に要約し、被災状況の全貌の把握を容易にする被災状況要約システムD-SUMM（民間企業にビジネスライセンスを提供しています）。最近は、SNSの書き込みを受動的に分析するだけでなく、国立研究開発法人 防災科学技術研究所、ウェーザーニューズ株式会社、LINE株式会社と連携して、スマホ上での対話を介して、アクティブに被災情報を一般ユーザから収集、もしくはユーザに提供する防災チャットボットSOCDAの研究開発をSIP第2期「国家レジリエンス（防災・減災）の強化」において進めています
• 「iPS細胞ってすごいよね」「対話するロボットで高齢者介護ができるといいね」といったユーザが入力した発話に対して背景の意図や質問を分析し、WISDOM Xの質問応答を用い「iPS細胞で肥大型心筋症の治療薬候補を見つけた」「業務用カラオケと見守りロボットを活用して高齢者介護に役立てよう」といった応答を生成する次世代音声対話システムWEKDA（2017年10月24日のプレスリリース）
• SIP第2期「ビッグデータ・AIを活用したサイバー空間技術」においてKDDI株式会社、NECソリューションイノベータ株式会社、株式会社日本総合研究所と協力し、次世代音声対話システムWEKDAの雑談応答技術も活用しつつ、高齢者の健康状態のチェックや社会的孤立の回避を狙ったマルチモーダル音声対話システムMICSUSの研究開発を行っています
• WISDOM X、DISAANA、D-SUMM、WEKDAのようにテキストを知的に分析するシステムを実現するためのテキストの意味処理技術、テキストからの知識抽出技術、文脈処理技術、巨大ニューラルネットの事前学習モデルやそれらを使った各種自然言語処理ツール
• WebやSNS等の情報をもとに、深層学習技術を使い社会の動向や将来を考えるヒントを与える技術や、各種イノベーションの支援や、対話におけるユーザの意図や好みを推論できる自動推論技術
• 対話、質問応答、推論、文脈処理等の高度な処理のための大規模学習データ構築
• 超大規模なニューラルネットワーク等の学習を並列化等によって容易にする深層学習ツールの開発

略歴

１９９２年東京大学理学部情報科学科卒。 １９９５年東京大学大学院理学系研究科情報科学専攻中退。 同年同専攻助手。 その後、科学技術振興事業団さきがけ研究２１研究員（兼任）、北陸先端科学技術大学院大学助教授、同准教授を経て、 ２００８年より情報通信研究機構(NICT)勤務。 同機構情報分析研究室・室長、データ駆動知能システム研究センター・センター長等を経て、２０２０年よりNICTフェロー、２０２１年よりユニバーサルコミュニケーション研究所・副所長、及びデータ駆動知能システム研究センター・主管研究員。 一貫して自然言語処理の研究に従事。 近年は自然言語処理を用いた Web上の大量の文書からの知識獲得、ならびに獲得された知識を活用するアプリケーションに関する研究に従事。 日本学術振興会賞、文部科学大臣表彰科学技術賞、志田林三郎賞、ドコモ・モバイル・サイエンス賞先端技術部門優秀賞、前島密賞、Twitter Data Grantsなど受賞。
